Craft Room almost there :)

Drywall done and seams prepped, almost time to sand prime and paint!!

Have I mentioned how much I love Kijiji? I priced out cabinets from ILEA, and the HomeDepot truck load event where 30x30w and 30x15w cabinets sell for $99 and then I got lucky. There was an ad for an 80x30w tall cabinet in white for $40 - a great start, right? I inquired about it and the seller said he was redoing his kitchen. I asked if he had upper cabinets and he measured them all right there on the phone... His vision of using the upper cabinets in his basement quickly became hey! If you want my uppers, I can use the tall cabinet!! A win/win situation since I paid $30 per cabinet, rounding my total to gas for pickup, my time and $150. That's s pretty big price difference, no?? Yippieee!!! Now to clean them up and redo my cabinet layout now that I know what sizes I have!

Now isn't this just a perfect solution!!  

You can get the ribbon right off the spool, snip n pin, or take the whole roll off without much fuss.  What I love about this is that it can be kept in a cabinet behind closed doors, or right out on a shelf!

Craft Room update

So I've been thinking about paper storage, and how I can recapture my 4x2 expedit shelf from IKEA so it can hold miscellaneous stuff in boxes but more importantly, my 12x12 albums.  Here are some paper solutions that caught my interest.

Pretty, right... 

So my plan is to use a combination of these and build-in open paper storage right alongside my 30x30 upper cabinets, so the interior will be 12.12x11.75 so the edge of the paper hangs over the edge so my fingers can grab it.

My New Craft Studio!

So here I am, 38 weeks and very pregnant and we decide that since baby will be taking over the guest room, it would be nice to start finishing the basement and create a new guest room space, so MIL can visit for weekends still.  Well... one thing led to another and all of a sudden the priority is no longer a guest room but a craft room for me!!! This is a birthday present from my DH, and he's not skimping!  We're talking sub floor cause my feet are always cold, and insulation since it's against an outside wall, and drywalled ceiling since I want to paint it... all under the guise of a birthday present :)  I know in my heart it's really a push present, a place that's all mine, and really a place for me to escape two little ones, to spend some time crafting!  I'm off for a year on maternity leave, and my oldest starts JK so I may just have a couple hours here and there to enjoy this new space!

OMG!  A little too busy but WOWWW!

I haven't had a dedicated craft space since December 2011... when we packed up our old house for sale!  BOO....

My beloved Craft Cockpit... ahhh.. the memories....

As of yesterday, the entire area (and guest room) of my NEW Craft Studio is studded, and my craft area has insulation and as of today, the drywall is up!!  WOO HOO!  I've put my inner architect to work and laid out the best value for space/cost in terms of shelving and upper cabinets without sacrificing wishes and most importantly HOW I work... and although it's totally a dream come true... and still feels surreal... I am uuuuber excited!

What's more exciting... baby coming any second... or my craft room progress... hmmm ;)
I think there are 19 unopened boxes from my old Craft Cockpit !!
