Furoshiki gift wrapping technique

I've never heard of this furoshiki Japanese eco-friendly gift wrapping technique.  I'd love to get some pretty fabric and try some of the techniques :)  These fabrics are as pretty as paper!!

Their sizes are:

Small: 18.7" x 18.7"
Medium: 26.5" x 26.5" 
Large: 35.5" x 35.5"
x-large: 46.02" x 46.02"

before I packed up to move,

Oooh I sure hope this year keeps each and every one of you happy, healthy and inspired to create pretty little paper things!!

To start the new year, with the help of my brand spankin' new iPhone4 (insert wild cheering here) I will have no excuse for not having a camera nearby lol. So without haste, here's my evolved and messy craft area, I call it "Grand Central Station" because everything is within an arm's reach, including my laptop under the table to the left running my Silhouette digital craft cutting machine!!  Notice to the left, up past the ribbon, and the Silhouette cutter is my brand spankin new Big Shot express *insert even wilder cheering here* that I have been waiting four months for since I got it at 60% off with free shipping (to the US) so I had to wait for Hubbyto go get the darned thing from Florida, but it was well worth the wait!!

It WOOD be finished tomorrow!

As of tomorrow, the sawdust should cease. The last bit of flooring is going in today and finally, I'll be able to claim my studio and finish the last minute touches of sanding a few minor wall fixes, priming those areas and re-painting. Whew! The fine dust in the basement in unreal!!! To top it off, my personal deadline has long gone, but at least the job is coming to a close. I'm guessing the fist will have to wait until January as the holidays are way too busy a time to tackle this and were planning some travel as well. Here's the pic from last night.

I'm floored!!!

Omg!! My floor is in! I'm sooooo excited!!! In also sooo busy!!! I cannot wait to start cleaning that dust from the construction and start unpacking!!!

... After my Christmas tree is up, and decorations
... After I've swept and vacuumed the entire basement
... After me and my 3 month old and 4 year old are fed, bathed, clothes and have slept!

Who am I kidding, it's at till after the holidays :P

Craft Studio Progress

The laminate flooring is being installed this week, first into the new guest room, then my craft studio, continuing out into the open space of the furnace room. Once the guest room is finished and we move the furniture down there I can get started on baby's room - yay! Then I can clean the tremendous dust in the basement from all that construction and finally unpack my craft studio - big grin!!!

Reusing gift wrap

Turn Pretty Paper Into Packaging - thanks Martha!Don't toss away all the wrapping paper that once covered your wedding presents. Instead, run it through a shredder (cut to size first, if needed) and use it for lining gift boxes or protecting breakables to be shipped.

There are so many ways to do this cute technique, for example, wrap a toilet paper roll in gift wrap, insert the gift inside, then wrap in cellophane, and tie with ribbon!
